Daniel B. Nottes is a results-oriented, innovative, creative thinker who works closely with his clients to successfully negotiate, and if necessary litigate, cases from inception through trial and appeal. A seasoned litigator, Mr. Nottes represents individuals and families in complex and sophisticated matters.

Mr. Nottes is privileged to represent clients in all aspects of matrimonial and family law, including divorce and separation (both litigated in court and settled out of court); negotiating marital and family agreements (prenuptial, postnuptial, separation, and other settlement agreements); paternity; custody, visitation, parenting time and access; child support, including initial awards and modifications; spousal support/maintenance; relocation to other jurisdictions; parents/grandparents rights; domestic violence, including orders of protection; equitable distribution and property division, including valuations of real estate (commercial and residential) holdings, businesses, professional practices, closely-held family companies, art collections, exotic cars and automobiles, aircraft, and other complex holdings and assets.

His cases have also involved multi-jurisdictional and cross-border issues, including proceedings involving children, jurisdictional disputes and matters of international law. In addition, he has extensive experience representing clients in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including arbitrations and mediations – locally, nationally and internationally.

Mr. Nottes’ cases have garnered national and international media attention and have involved landmark issues and matters of first impression, such as the successful distribution of frozen embryos to his client as part of an equitable distribution/marital property award after trial, considerably large support awards, including a permanent maintenance award following a multi-week trial, and the striking of pleadings resulting from illegal iPhone hacking and spoliation of evidence – the first case of its kind ever litigated worldwide – which was recently affirmed on appeal with costs (see Appellate Division Decision here).

Prior to forming his boutique law firm to service his broad client base, Mr. Nottes was a Partner and the Practice Chair of the Matrimonial and Family Law Department at a commercial law firm. Previously, Mr. Nottes was a name partner at Felder, Felder and Nottes, P.C. (formerly Raoul Felder and Partners, P.C.), a renowned law firm concentrating in Matrimonial and Family Law. During law school, Mr. Nottes had the privilege of serving as a judicial intern to the Honorable Arthur D. Spatt, Senior United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Nottes is admitted to practice in the State of New York.
